It is constantly seeking talented, compassionate candidates with high-integrity to strengthen its capacity to respond urgently to crises with the right skills. Given the nature of the project, it is essential that its workforce has the right mix of skills and qualities to fulfil its mandate and meet all set project indicators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Protection Officer assists the Protection Specialist in coordinating the Protection programme with the objective of providing timely and effective protection to populations of concern, as well as supervising protection interventions within a various sectoral interventions of the project. The Protection\/GBV Officer must be able to contribute to the development of an annual protection strategy that is solutions-oriented and based on a consultative process with multi-functional teams and partners. The PO must also have the ability to support the Protection Specialist in forging strong partnerships with stakeholders, government entities, other UN agencies, and NGOs to facilitate the operation\u2019s protection objectives. To achieve this, the Protection Officer will need to build and maintain effective relations with communities of concern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Duties and Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Ensure \u2013 through clear weekly and monthly work plans \u2013 Protection monitoring, field assessments, community-based activities, especially life-skills, socio-recreational and awareness raising activities, are carried out in a timely, effective and technically sound manner.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Supervise the conduct of individual interviews and facilitate participatory protection assessment \u2013 applying the Age, Gender and Diversity Mainstreaming approach &#8211; to fully understand the displaced population in its diversity, their protection concerns and priorities, and the resources available to them.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Support the collection of information\/data about vulnerability, protection needs and concerns of the targeted population.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Ensure that the above-described protection information gathering, sharing and filing are done in accordance with agreed information management system that respects the dignity and ensure the confidentiality of the information sources&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Act as focal point for the identification and referral of Vulnerable Individuals and People with Specific Protection Needs for adequate assistance according to project pre-defined criteria and protection cluster referral criteria.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Manage individual Protection cases, including maintaining strict protocols for confidentiality and consent.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Update case files on individual developments, following Caritas Nigeria\u2019s&nbsp;SOPs and ensuring beneficiaries\u2019 data are protected.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Conduct follow-up monitoring visits to ensure that needs have been met in an appropriate manner and beneficiary have the opportunity to provide feedback on the assistance received.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Ensure dissemination of clear and reliable information on service provision and other preselected key topics.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Contribute to the establishment\/maintenance of a referral pathway, respectful of the confidentiality principle and Caritas Nigeria\u2019s SOPs.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Contribute to building the capacities of local actors through involvement in their capacity-building planning, localized protection network meetings and co-facilitating their training sessions.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Supervise and coordinate the consortium\u2019s implementation of community-based activities, especially socio-recreational, life-skills and awareness raising activities, with special emphasis on extremely vulnerable individuals and people with specific needs, with the aim of improving their psychosocial well-being.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Prepare and submit activity plans and reports to the team leader\/protection manager on agreed schedules.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Provide verbal and written feedback to supervisor on progress, lesson learnt, achievements and gaps, issues and problems.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Keep a database of the number of beneficiaries per activity in each location, disaggregated by sex&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Liaise with relevant public authorities and service providers in order to foster effective collaboration and encourage national interest and ownership in protection of refugees and other persons of concern.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Any other duties as may be assigned by the Line&nbsp;Manager\/Specialist<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Conduct duties in accordance with Caritas Nigeria\u2019s programming and protection Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Conduct duties in strict accordance with Caritas Nigeria\u2019s Code of Conduct and the principle of confidentiality.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Maintain and promote a positive image of the organization and its activities by explaining what the consortium is doing and why it operates in that way.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Required qualifications:<\/u><\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;University degree in human rights, refugee studies, social sciences or other related discipline;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>. Relevant professional experience of three (3-5) years, preferably in emergency and\/or development context; &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Prior experience or familiarity with&nbsp;rural intervention and\/or persons of concern (including internally displaced persons and refugees-returnees) would be a distinct advantage; &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;Prior experience or familiarity with NGO sector would be an advantage;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;Familiarity with international protection and human rights legal standards, with special emphasis on women rights and SGBV, would be a distinct advantage.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>. Good spoken and written English, Hausa and Marghi and relevant computer skills.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;A high respect to client\/organization confidentiality.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;Demonstrated interpersonal skills and respect for people with special needs and other vulnerability.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>.
