Global Fund Public Private Mix Tb Project
The Global Fund Public-Private-Mix Tuberculosis (PPM-TB) Project, is a 2-year project in which Caritas Nigeria is sub-recipient to the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN). This project supports faith-based health facilities across 20 states of the federation, to expand PPM coverage and increase the Private Sector contribution to increase National TB case Finding, Notification, Care and management.
Caritas Nigeria’s focus is on strengthening the capacities of 412 faith-based health facilities linked to 4,120 formal and informal health services providers (PMVs, CPs, TBAs and Prayer Houses) in the Hubs and Spokes Model across 20 of the 36 states in Nigeria to increase TB case identification and notification. These states are as follows; Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Benue, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Enugu, Imo, Kaduna, Kogi, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau, Ondo, Ogun, Osun

2. To increase the DST coverage from 34% in 2017 to 70% by 2020
The project is designed in a Hub and Spoke Model where the FBO health facilities in the 20 States are the Hubs that support the Spoke community formal and informal health services providers including – 1) Community Pharmacies, 2) Patent Medicine Vendors, 3) Traditional Birth Attendants, 4) Prayer Houses and 5) Traditional Medicine healers.
PPM TB project targets the general public for TB screening, identification of TB suspects, Sputum samples collection from TB suspects for laboratory analysis using Gene Xpert technology, treatment and follow – up of TB infected cases.
The FBO health facilities are supported to engage in community outreaches to identify TB suspects for diagnosis, treatment and follow – up.
