Project Goal
To strengthen the capacity of ten participating organizations in Sierra Leone, Liberia, Nigeria and Zimbabwe to prepare for and respond to humanitarian crises and strengthen their network and volunteer management systems
Specific Objectives
- Strengthen humanitarian preparedness & response capacity of 10 local and national organizations to design and deliver needs based humanitarian aid.
- Strengthen volunteer management capacity of 10 prospective hosting organizations to facilitate integration & active participation of volunteers in humanitarian action.
- Strengthen collective dialogue, knowledge sharing, learning and peer-to-peer support between partners on volunteers.
Implementation Strategy
Building the capacity of participating organizations including Caritas Nigeria’s capacity to develop and manage an effective volunteer management systems and emergency preparedness by engaging community, office and international volunteers.
Achievements
Training on the following:
- Volunteer management,
- Emergency preparedness
- CI toolkits
- Introduction to the Core humanitarian standards
- Safeguarding and protection against sexual exploitation and abuse
Peer learning exchange visits where countries participating in the project visited one another.
Nigeria visited Zimbabwe for one week to learn about emergency preparedness and disaster management.
