Caritas Nigeria Board Chairman and Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Alfred Adewale Martins
Ahead of Year 2 of the B-SLiC Project, the team, joined by the Dean of Badagry Deanery, Rev. Fr. George Anubuike advocates for local community involvement and engagement in addressing the pressing issue of climate change in agriculture to reduce the risk of food shortages and hunger. Recognizing this, the Caritas Nigeria B-SLiC Project team and our project partners - the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus delegation, led by Caritas Nigeria Board Chairman and Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Alfred Adewale Martins, recently embarked on a courtesy visit to the project stakeholders in the Badagry region of Lagos State. As part of community entry and site selection activities, the team also paid a courtesy call on His Royal Majesty De Wheno, Aholu Menu Toyi OFR, D.Litt., the Akran of Badagry Kingdom, to discuss the aims of the project and seek his support for its implementation in Badagry. These significant interactions with key community and church leaders underscore our continued commitment to community development and sustainable livelihoods in Nigeria.

Funded by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, the Building Sustainable Livelihoods for Vibrant Communities (B-SLiC) project empowers local farmers with climate-smart agricultural practices, and contributes to food security, economic growth, and sustainable development by promoting modern farming techniques, improving infrastructure, and facilitating access to markets.
