A total of 22 beneficiaries comprising 18 returned migrants, 2 victims of trafficking, and 2 at-risk populations, were provided with startup kits on May 13, 2022, by Caritas Nigeria in Benin, Edo State after completing three months of training in fashion design under the ongoing GIZ-funded Stable Trained and Empowered Me (STEM) Project.

Present at the ceremony were the staff of Caritas Nigeria, the beneficiaries themselves, as well as the guarantors of the beneficiaries who were encouraged to monitor and support their wards. 

GIZ empowerment edo03The startup items included an industrial sewing machine; a 2.5KVA generator; shop rent support of N50,000 as well as cash logistics support of N10,000 for each of the

beneficiaries. 

The beneficiaries also received their training certificates and were urged to be enterprising and judicious in their businesses under the prevailing economic climate, for their own good. They expressed gratitude for the good gestures shown by Caritas Nigeria and promised to be accountable. 

The STEM Project is aimed at providing (re-)integration measures for returned migrants, at-risk populations, and internally displaced persons and is centred majorly on the Edo Stae. country.
