Gabriel Tyona Gbenyi is a seasoned professional accountant with over 20 years of experience in finance and accounts, grants and compliance management, budgeting, and strategic planning. Since joining Caritas Nigeria in April 2012, he has played a pivotal role in ensuring financial accountability and regulatory compliance within the organization. As the Director of Grants and Compliance and Business Official for the ACCESS Project, he is responsible for implementing Caritas Nigeria’s grant and compliance strategy while overseeing overall business operations.

In his capacity, Gabriel leads a team of professional managers to establish robust financial controls, facilitate annual budget planning and monitoring, and conduct periodic budget analyses. He ensures compliance with U.S. Government (USG) regulations, provides financial training to SDFs, and interprets regulatory frameworks for partners. A certified accountant, risk-based auditor, and tax expert, he holds a BSc, MBA, and MSc. With over 14 years of experience in the development sector, he has worked with several implementing partners, including Catholic Relief Services, John Snow, and currently in Caritas Nigeria.
