Caritas Nigeria, Abia State Ministry of Health Collaborate on Effective Tuberculosis Screening Program in Umunneochi LGA
In a bid to combat tuberculosis among adults and children, Caritas Nigeria, in collaboration with the Abia State Ministry of Health through the support of Ihv Nigeria, has initiated a life-saving program called the “Tuberculosis Testing Week”. The event occurred at the Lokpa Cattle Market in Lukwesi, within the Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State.
Orphans and Vulnerable Children in Abia State get School Block Grant
Recently, 5 government Community Primary Schools across Aba South, Ohafia, Osisioma, Umuahia South, and Ugwunabo local government areas (LGA) of Abia State were profiled for the educational grant, during which 155 out-of-school children, who were made vulnerable by HIV, as well as others from indigent households, were identified for re-enrollment in school.
Abia State Team Meets Commissioner for Women Affairs
Today, 11th of October 2023 a delegation of our Abia State team led by Dr. Charles Okolie, who represented our Orphans and Vulnerable Children’s (OVC) program team in the state, paid a courtesy visit to the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Blessing Felix, to discuss collaborative strategies for effective delivery of our OVC and gender services in the region.
OVC intervention empowers adolescents in Abia State
The Orphans and Vulnerable Children’s (OVC) intervention currently implemented by Caritas Nigeria under The U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and CDC-funded ACCESS project has empowered 18 more adolescents in Abia State with vocational skills.
